About these terms

This website is operated by Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program (PIAP). It provides information about the program and assistance for self-represented appellants before the Court of Appeal for Ontario. PIAP does not charge appellants for its services.

General information and deadlines

Website content is general information, not legal advice about your circumstances. It may not reflect every change in the law or court procedures. Appeal deadlines can be strict. If a deadline is approaching, seek legal advice promptly; do not rely on this website or wait for an email response.

Contact and legal representation

Using this website or sending an enquiry does not, by itself, establish a lawyer-client relationship or confirm that a lawyer has agreed to act for you. The scope of any assistance or representation must be confirmed directly with the program or the lawyer involved. These terms do not limit duties owed in an existing lawyer-client relationship.

Information you submit

Provide accurate information and only the information needed for your request. Do not send original documents or detailed case materials through the general contact form unless the program asks you to. Use any document-submission facility only as directed. How information is handled is described in our Privacy Policy.

Acceptable use

Do not misuse the website, send malicious material, interfere with its operation, or attempt to obtain unauthorised access to accounts, case documents or restricted areas. Staff access is for authorised users only.

External resources and content

Links to courts, legal resources and other websites are provided for convenience. Those organisations control their own content and privacy practices. Linking does not make their content part of PIAP's advice. Copyright and other rights in website materials remain with their respective owners; these terms do not grant rights in third-party materials.

Updates and questions

These terms may be updated. The date above identifies the current published version.

For questions, privacy requests, corrections or concerns, contact Pro Bono Inmate Appeal Program using the email, telephone or mailing details on our Contact page. Please identify your request as a privacy request where relevant. Do not include unnecessary case details in your initial message.
